OXFORD, Maine \u2014 Pocket Full of Mumbles, southern Maine\u2019s leading  purveyors of \u201cSmart Twang,\u201d will play The Oxbow Beer Garden here on Saturday, July 26, 4-7 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in Newcastle, with a second location on Portland\u2019s ever-more trendy Washington Street corridor, Oxbow<\/a> opened its third location, The Beer Garden, in 2019. If you haven\u2019t checked out this location \u2014 at 420 Main Street in Oxford, 35 minutes north of Portland, just west of Lewiston-Auburn \u2014 you\u2019re missing out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sprawling, idyllic setting on Route 26, with its vintage sleds and private lean-tos, has no comps. The restaurant slings wood-fired, naturally leavened pizza, along with salads and seasonal dishes. The bar features an extensive selection of Oxbow beers, as well as house-made sodas, spirits, cider and wine. The terrain surrounding the Beer Garden \u2014 the former Carter\u2019s XC Ski \u2014 has produced exceptional fruits and vegetables for generations. Today it \u00a0generates ingredients for the Oxbow kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe first became enamored of Oxbow\u2019s delightful Farmhouse Pale Ale, but then we discovered \u00a0Washington Street and the Beer Garden,\u201d says Mumbles co-founder Hal Phillips. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to play the latter on July 26. It\u2019s become THE place to stop on the way home from Sunday River. But on a warm summer evening? Way cozier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe also appreciate the staff warming to our Simon & Garfunkel roots. The poster was their own creation! We still pepper our sets with S&G \u2014 if you haven\u2019t heard America<\/em> with pedal steel, well, you\u2019ve never really heard it. But folks can also expect our full complement of originals, along with twang-infused covers of Jackson Brown, Son Volt, Robert Plant and Alisson Krause, The Band and CSN.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
